Ethical principles governing PTU-certified professionals

 
The PTU Code of Ethics establishes the professional conduct required of all individuals holding PTU certification.
 
Certification under PTU implies acceptance of these ethical obligations.
 
Adherence to this Code is mandatory and subject to review.

 
I. Duty of Care
PTU-certified professionals must prioritize participant safety at all times.
 
This includes:
 
• Physical safety awareness
• Psychological risk sensitivity
• Responsible intervention practices
• Clear boundaries of competence

 
Facilitators must not operate beyond their professional capacity.
 

 
II. Informed Consent
Participants must be clearly informed of:
 
• The nature of the experience
• Potential emotional or physical intensity
• Their right to withdraw participation
• The facilitator’s role and limitations

 
Consent must be voluntary and informed.

 
III. Professional Boundaries
Certified professionals must maintain clear professional boundaries.
 
This includes:
 
• No coercive influence
• No manipulation of authority
• No exploitation of vulnerability
• Clear separation between professional and personal roles

 
Authority must never be abused.


 
IV. Integrity of Influence
Facilitators must communicate truthfully regarding:
 
• Their qualifications
• The scope of certification
• The outcomes that may reasonably be expected

 
Exaggerated claims or misrepresentation are violations of this Code


 
V. Confidentiality
Information disclosed within professional settings must be treated with discretion and confidentiality.
 
Exceptions apply only in cases of:
 
• Risk of harm
• Legal obligation
• Explicit participant authorization.



 
VI. Accountabili
PTU-certified professionals remain subject to ethical review.
 
Violations of this Code may result in:
 
• Formal warning
• Mandatory remediation
• Suspension of certification
• Revocation of certification

 
Ethical responsibility continues beyond certification.


 
This Code forms an integral part of the PTU certification framework.
 
Acceptance of certification constitutes agreement to abide by these ethical principles.


 
Professional authority requires ethical discipline.
 
PTU certification represents both competence and moral responsibility.
